Bernard "Sonny" Calvert, Jr.

Bernard “Sonny” F. Calvert Jr. age 80 of Conneaut Lake, PA, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at his residence.  Sonny was born in Meadville on May 1, 1936 to his father, Bernard Sr. and his mother Evelyn Calvin Calvert.  Sonny attended East Fallowfield School.  He married Ruth A. Urquhart on October 31, 1955.  They, together attend Faith and Grace Fellowship Church on Leach Rd. in Conneaut Lake.  Sonny was a long distance truck driver.  He was an owner/operator and last drove for Great American Lines until his retirement in 2006.  He was proud to have delivered to 48 of the 50 states!  Sonny enjoyed riding his motorcycle in his younger years.  His most recent hobbies include mowing the grass and tinkering in his workshop at home.                  Sonny is survived by his wife of 60 years, a daughter, Deborah Spratt of Hartstown, PA; a son Robert Calvert and his wife Linda of Cochranton, PA; 3 grandchildren, Mark Calvert and his wife Rachel, Shannon Allen and her husband R. Philip and Joshua Spratt.  Sonny is also survived by 8 great grandchildren, Elizabeth Gilligan and her husband Charles, Robert Calvert, Jarod Calvert, Philip Allen, Brian Allen, Jacob Allen, Hannah Allen, William Spratt; and 1 great-great grandson, Braiden Gilligan.  Sonny has 2 brothers, Charles Calvert and his wife Shirley of Hartstown and Eugene Calvert and his wife Rosemarry of Conneaut Lake, many nieces and nephews and a special friend and neighbor, Raymond Ellis.  Sonny is preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law James Spratt.                 Calling hours will be on Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 2PM until 4PM at DICKSON FUNERAL HOME.  A funeral service will be held at 6PM at the funeral home on Thursday, with additional calling until 9PM.  Officiating the funeral will be Pastors, Karen Bales and Jack Bales of Faith and Grace Fellowship.                  Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105 or The American Cancer Society 2115 W. 38th St. Erie, PA 16508.  Arrangements have been entrusted to DICKSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, Rocco R.
