Bertha "Babe" Makoski

Bertha “Babe” M. Makoski, age 81, of Cambridge Springs passed away May 7, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family.  She was born August 15, 1938 in Meadville, PA to the late Cue and Ellen (Reed) Davison.  She married Joseph S. Makoski, Sr. on June 11, 1960.  He preceded her in on July 10, 2008.

She was employed at Golden Living Center in Cambridge Springs for 25 years.   She attended Lady of the Lakes in Edinboro, PA.

Babe was a devoted mother and grandmother.  She enjoyed many things in life such as taking walks, hunting, gardening, baking and many other outdoor activities.  When she was not at work, she also enjoyed babysitting many of the neighborhood kids.  After retiring, Babe enjoyed spending as much time as she could with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren; especially with her great-granddaughter, Mallory, who was the only one that could get her Gram to smile for a picture.

She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Carroll and her husband, James of Venango, PA; her son, Joseph Makoski, Jr. of Cambridge Springs, PA; granddaughters, Christine Shields and her husband, Frank of Meadville, PA and Kristin Eells and her husband, Richard of Saegertown, PA; great- granddaughter, Mallory Shields  and  one sister, Nancy Mattocks of Scranton, PA.

Babe was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Ernest and Howard Davison; sister, Josephine Gowarty; grandchildren, Robert and James Carroll, and great-granddaughter, Gabriella Shields.

Due to the current COVID-19 guidelines, family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, May 10, 2020 from 11-12 p.m. at Venango Cemetery, 22399 Cemetery Rd., Venango, PA 16440.  A graveside service will take place at 12:00 p.m. with Father Dan Hoffman of Edinboro Lady of the Lake officiating.
