Betty J. Rogers

Betty Jane (McCully) Rogers, age 78, of Meadville, PA, passed away at UPMC Hamot, Erie, PA She was born March 24, 1936 in Irvona, PA, the daughter of the late Lloyd Stanley and Georgia Mae Oakman McCully. She married Frank C. Rogers on December 27, 1953. He survives. She had been employed as a coner with Avtex Fibers for 24 years, until its closure. She then was an inspector with Channellock Inc. for 15 years, having worked at Plant 2. She was of the Methodist Faith. She was an auxiliary member of the VFW Post 2006, Meadville. Betty was a diving coach for over 18 years at the Meadville WMCA. She especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty was very dedicated and devoted to her husband. Betty Jane is survived by her husband, Frank C. Rogers, of Meadville, PA; a daughter, Edwina S. Jones and her husband Philip Jones of Meadville, PA; two sons, Frank C. Rogers Jr. and his wife, Tina Leffingwell Rogers of Meadville, PA and Richard Rogers and his companion, Angie of Cambridge Springs, PA; four grandchildren, Valerie Jones, Philip Jones Jr., Frank Rogers III, and Alexis Jane Rogers; two great-grandchildren, Jared Jones and Bricen Jones; three sisters, Alice Mae Schellhammer of Altoona, PA, Georgie Jean Bailey of Dunlap, TN, and Edwina Easterwood and her husband Luther of Livonia, Michigan; a brother, Stanley (Pete) McCully and his wife, Vickie of Falling Timber, PA. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Meredith McCully Hurliman of Altoona, PA and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Lloyd Stanley McCully and Georgia Mae Oakman McCully Rae, Betty Jane was preceded in death by a brother, Jack McCully and by two brother-in-laws; Robert Schellhammer and Harold Bailey, and twin siblings who passed away at birth. Family and friends are welcome to call on Friday from 4 to 6 PM at the Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home & Crematory, 614 Baldwin Street, Meadville, PA. The funeral service will follow at 6 PM on Friday at the funeral home with Deacon Harvey McQueen from St. Agatha's Church, officiating.
