Betty Mae Spratt

Betty Mae (Hindman) Spratt, age 91 of Meadville, PA passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at UPMC-Hamot, Erie, PA. She was born November 19, 1922 in Meadville, PA the daughter of the late Robert and Florence Baine Hindman. She married Arthur John "AJ" Spratt on November 4, 1940. He preceded her in death on May 2, 1990. Formerly employed at A & P of Meadville and worked alongside with her husband for 49 years on their family farm. And still enjoyed gardening. Betty attended Townville Baptist Church. Her family and her faith were the most important joys in her life. She dedicated her life to being "Mom" to many. Her loving and compassionate nature made loved by all who knew her and the best "Gram" on the planet. Betty enjoyed her time with the weekly music group where she shared her talent with other musicians playing the organ. Every Saturday morning, she attended the Breakfast Club with close friends. She faithfully chauffeured her younger friends, taking them shopping and to doctors appointments. She was active in making "prayer shawls", and would pray for the individual that was to receive it as she made it. In her daily prayers, she would always add "Lord make me an encouragement to someone today". Betty was a member the Red Hats group. She was a faithful volunteer for the American Red Cross blood drives. She belonged to the 1000 Mile Club at the Y where she enjoyed swimming and raced the guys in the swimming pool. She most recently had started to take T'ai Chi classes at the Meadville Community Center. Betty is survived by three daughters, Catherine J. Kanyuck and her husband, John of Centerville, PA, Cheryl M. Nesbitt and her companion, Bob Fisher of Guys Mills, PA, and Mary DeMaison and her husband Timothy of Guys Mills, PA; three grandchildren, Autumn Wynne O'Hara, Rebecca Anne DeMaison, and John Andrew Nesbitt; five great-grandchildren, Tamber Schaef, Stephanie Schaef, Jerad Schaef, Savannah O'Hara and Madison O'Hara; two great-great grandchildren, Colton Rhoades, and Kacelynn Schaef. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Betty was preceded in death by a daughter, Darla Mae Spratt, and infant grandson, and two brothers, Robert Hindman and William Hindman. Family and friend are welcome to call on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9PM at the Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home & Crematory, 614 Baldwin Street, Meadville, PA. Family and friends are welcome to attend the funeral service on Tuesday at 11 AM at the Townville Baptist Church, 33274 Main Street, Townville, with the Rev. James Riley, officiating. Burial will take place in the Townley Cemetery, Gravel Run Road, Richmond Township. Memorials can be made to the Townville Baptist Church, c/o Kids Club, P.O.
