Betty J. (Thomas) Steele, age 92 of Meadville, PA passed away on Monday, March 3, 2014 at her shared residence with Patricia, after a period of declining health. She was born September 10, 1921 in Franklin, PA the daughter of the late William and Mildred (Plattner) Thomas. She married Harry D. Steele on February 9, 1946. He preceded her in death on July 17, 2006. She was a l940 Graduate of Conneautville High School. She attended Bible College in Binghamton, New York. She was of the Protestant Faith, being a member of the Alliance Church. Before her marriage to Harry, she had been employed at the Viscose and at Talon. After her marriage, she stayed at home with the children. She then was employed from 1977 until her retirement, as an agent with the Greyhound Bus Station, here in Meadville, PA She enjoyed bowling with her husband, working crossword puzzles and playing Sudoko. She was very involved with teaching and the ladies group at the Alliance Church. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Hofius, of Meadvile, PA, and Sharon Wheeler and her husband, Norman of Springboro, PA, a son-in-law, Stephen Taylor of Jamestown, New York, seven grandchildren; Jackie Wolford and her husband, Jeff of Lake city, PA., Trisha Hofius and her husband, Saiful Ahsan of Phoenix, AZ, Aaron Taylor and his wife, Courtney of Mayville, New York, David Wheeler and his wife, Kellee of Belle Vernon, PA, Erik Hofius of Meadville, PA, Sarah Lincoln and her husband, Jason of Boonesboro, MD, and Ashley Derico and her husband, Josh of Orwell, Ohio, four great-grandchildren, Alyssa Wolford, Kiersten Wolford, Ethan Taylor, Madeline Lincoln and Dylan Derico due in August 2014, a sister; Mildred Tury of Pittsburgh, PA, two sister-in-laws; Gennie Thomas of Fairview, PA and Wanda Thomas of Warren, PA. She is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, and her husband, Betty was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Steele Taylor, two sisters, Virginia Natcher and Nelle Wiley, three brothers, Charles Thomas, John Thomas and Joseph Thomas. Family and friends may call on Monday from 11 am until 1 PM at the Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home & Crematory, 614 Baldwin Street, Meadville, PA and may attend the funeral service on Monday at 1 PM at the funeral home with the Rev. Phil Reinhart, pastor of the Lakeland Area Bible Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Denny Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O.
