Bonnie Smith

April 10, 1949 — February 27, 2025

Bonnie L. Smith (Carnes), age 75, of Conneaut Lake, PA passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday February 27, 2025. She was born on April 10, 1949 in Linesville, PA to the late John D. and Doris D. (Young) Carnes.

Bonnie’s most favorite place of work was Mama Bear’s Restaurant where she had lots of friends and many great memories that she shared often. She worked there for several years until she moved to South Dakota to be with her daughter. In October 2023, she moved back to Pennsylvania to live with her daughter and family.

She enjoyed crocheting, doing circle word puzzles, watching TV and hanging out with her grandchildren and her daughter and son-in-law. She loved to go to the store and ride around doing errands with her daughter. She had a huge heart and was always helping and giving to others as she could.

Bonnie is survived by her daughter, April (Smith) Hayes and her husband, Ersel of Conneaut Lake, PA formerly of Yankton, SD; her grandchildren, Tyler Pulice of Omaha, NE and Ayden Hayes of Conneaut Lake, PA and two grandchildren by marriage, Arianna Hayes of Yankton, SD and Rielle Hayes of Conneaut Lake, PA. She is further survived by her two sisters, Sandy Wheeler and her husband, John of Springboro, PA and Darlene Morgan and her husband, Scott of Conneautville, PA and her two brothers, Donald Carnes and his wife, Martha of Linesville, PA and Ronny Carnes and many other family and beloved friends both in Pennsylvania and South Dakota areas.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ellis Gehr, Christine Jessie and Sharon Maynard and her brothers, Jerry Carnes and Jackie Carnes; her children, Michael Smith, Anthony Smith and Tina Marie Smith and her granddaughter by marriage, Kiara McCoullough.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 12, 2025 with location and time to be determined.

Bonnie will be laid to rest with her children at Linesville Cemetery.
