Carlos J. Dennis

March 5, 1932 — February 14, 2020

Carlos J. “Bud” Dennis, 87, of Arcadia, FL and formerly of Meadville, PA passed away suddenly at home on February 14, 2020.  He was born on March 5, 1932 in Markleysburg, PA to the late Carl and Lorella (Smitley) Dennis.

Carlos served as a Corporal in the United States Army Infantry in Korea during the Korean Conflict from 1952-1954.

He worked as a furnace operator at Abex, retiring after 34 years.  Subsequently, for 15 years he was a carpenter with Associated Contractors of Conneaut Lake.

He was a gifted woodworker, an avid camper, hunter, and fisherman.  He loved traveling and being in the outdoors.  Carlos was a member of Go-4-Fun Camping Club.  Later in life, he enjoyed golfing and playing shuffleboard.  He will be remembered as a fun, loving, and hard-working man.

Carlos is survived by his girlfriend, Jean Pinkerton of Arcadia, FL; his children, Joan (Roy) Fletcher of Ripley, NY, Karl Dennis of Guys Mills, PA and Penny (Rick) Watson of Conneaut Lake, PA; eight grandchildren, Melissa, Chad, and Ryan Fletcher, Kory, Kraig and Keith Dennis, Erika West and Cody Fry; thirteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold (Betty) Dennis of Meadville; one sister, Elaine (Harold) Ritenour of Waynesburg,PA and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 47 years, Helen Jean (Wallace) Dennis; an infant son; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Tally Dennis and Laura Dennis-Johnson and Delmas and Billie Dennis; brother-in-law, Clarence “Junior” Ringer; his great-granddaughter, Chloe Dennis and his significant other of 14 years after his wife’s death, Mabel Smith.

Family and friends are invited to call Saturday, February 22, 2020 from 2-4 pm at Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home and Crematory, 614 Baldwin St., Meadville, PA 16335.  A memorial service will take place at 4 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Ken Hough officiating.  Military honors will be provided by VFW Post # 2006.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to a charity of one’s choice.
