Caroline attended St. Vitus School in Cleveland and Wilson Jr. High in Sibley, OH. During WWII she and her son, David, lived with her in-laws in Conneautville where she worked at the Ohio Rubber Company as a "Rosie" riveting fuel tanks for airplanes. After the war she and her former husband, Dave Dunlop, were founding partners of Dacar Industries, a ceramic figurine business in Conneautville. In the 1950s Caroline became a licensed practical nurse and worked at the Ida M. Cribbs Methodist Home in Conneautville. After her son graduated from Conneaut Valley High School, she moved to Meadville to be closer to her work, as the Cribbs Home had relocated to Meadville and changed its name to Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community. She continued to work at Wesbury until her retirement in 1981. She attended St. Agatha's Catholic Church for several years. In the spring of 2007, at age 96, she gave up independent living and moved to the Hillside Home in Meadville. She was also a member of the YWCA.
