Catherine M. Atwell

Catherine M. Atwell, age 94 of Meadville, PA passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at her residence. She was born November 16, 1920, in Root, NY, the only daughter of Clarence Burns, who died May 16, 1954, and Lena Burns, who died Aug 31, 1976. She was the wife of James M. Atwell. He died May 10, 1954. She was the Mother of: Lynn Atwell, who was her care-taker, Marica Ernst, Halcyon Benson, who died June 22, 2004, James Atwell and Bruce Atwell. Catherine has moved to be much closer to her LORD Jesus Christ. Prior to leaving she led a very remarkable life by example of Honesty, Hard Work with Integrity and is honored by her children. Catherine at the tender age of 34 had birthed 5 children, the youngest not yet 3months old had lost her husband in a tragic auto accident and helped bury her father who died 6 days later. She was suddenly tasked with learning to drive, purchasing a car and joining the work force as a secretary at Talon. When that youngest child graduated high school, she then left that job and became a student graduating from Edinboro University with a teaching degree in just under 3years.She spent the next 17 years teaching 3rd grade at Conneaut Lake retiring in 1986. At her request there will be no visiting hours. Memorial contributions can be made to her favorite charity The Wounded Warriors.
