Catherine Loper

July 1, 1924 — March 12, 2023

Catherine Louise Loper, age 98, of Conneaut Lake, PA passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at her niece’s residence with family by her side.  Catherine was born on July 1, 1924 in Dicksonburg, PA to the late John Sr. and Susannah( Koren) Waylo.

Catherine graduated from Conneautville High School and the Meadville Commercial College.   On August 28, 1948 she married Marshall Loper.  He preceded her in death on April 30, 1995.  Together, they owned Klingin’ Hills Golf Course in Conneaut Lake.  Catherine also worked at Sunbeam and the Keystone Ordnance Works until V - J Day (Victory over Japan), when it promptly closed.

Catherine was a lifelong golfer.  She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the 2 nd Division, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Linesville VFW, a lifetime member of Meadville Medical Center Auxiliary, where she volunteered, a member of Conneautville Order of the Eastern Star for 64 years, and a former member of the Lake Lutheran Church.

For many years, Catherine has lived with her nieces, DeDe Morian and her husband, Bill of Conneaut Lake and MeMe Hamilton and her husband, Bruce of Springboro.  Catherine is also survived by her niece, Carolyn Galle and her husband, Robert of Bethlehem, PA; a great nephew, Mark Bonser and his wife, Alyssa of Belfont, MD, and a great niece, Stacy Gdovin and her husband, Richard of Plains, PA.  Also surviving are great-great nieces and nephews.

Memorials can be made to the Harmonsburg United Methodist Church, where Catherine attended, 14182 1 st St. Harmonsburg, PA 16422.

Services for Catherine are private and at the convenience of the family.  She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Evergreen Cemetery.
