Charles C. Anderson Jr., 55, of 649 Cullum St., Meadville, died Saturday, April 10, 2010, at his hunting camp in Enterprise. Born Aug. 3, 1954, in Meadville, he was the son of Charles C. and Evelyn Louise Hess Anderson Sr. He married Cherie M. Piccolo on Jan. 4, 1975. He was a 1972 graduate of Meadville Area Senior High School and the Crawford County Area Vocational-Technical School. Following graduation he worked for his father and later took over his father's business after his death. In 1976, he became a fireman for the City of Meadville and retired as assistant chief in 2004. He presently worked for Corey Transportation of Meadville, Dickson Family Funeral Home of Cochranton, and also did construction work. He was an avid outdoorsman and spent countless hours feeding the animals and birds at his hunting camp. He loved spending time with family, friends, and his teammates in the two pool leagues in which he played. He was a member of Cochranton Volunteer Fire Department Station 4 and Vernon Central Volunteer Fire Department. Prior to joining the Meadville Fire Department, he was a volunteer fireman at Davis Hose Co. and was that department's former fire chief. He is survived by his former wife and friend, Cherie Anderson, of Meadville; a daughter, Heather Anderson of Meadville; a son, Charles Anderson III and his wife, Leslie, of Meadville; a grandson, Chase Carlyle Anderson; two sisters, Laurie Gebhardt of Meadville and Sharon Teasdale of Saegertown; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Tammy Lynn Anderson; and a brother, Thomas Anderson. Calling hours are today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home Inc., 614 Baldwin St., Meadville. Additional calling hour will be Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bruce Judy, friend of Charlie's, officiating.
