Charles S Bellas passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and children on Tuesday January 2, 2024. He was Born in Kittanning, Pennsylvania on July 10, 1951 to Charles F. Bellas and Betty Chestnut Bellas. He attended Kittanning High School until 1968 and then graduated from Cochranton High School in 1969, where he met his wife Ruth A. Hunt. He and Ruth married in 1971 and were inseparable for over 50 years. During that time, he took great pleasure in spending time with his family, raising his two children, and in later years, spoiling his grandchildren and cat, Slinky, incessantly. He was known by his family as a fighter, having been a successful recipient of a bone marrow transplant soon after his retirement from PPG in 2012. When he wasn’t pranking his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, or secretly supplying them with candy or forbidden foods, he could frequently be found biking, joking, and whenever the snow fell, always skiing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his wife Ruth Bellas, his children Stephanie Bellas, Benjamin Bellas and his partner Laura Gill, his Sister Sharon Schaeffer and her husband Don, his four grandchildren, Michael Loper, Kenneth Loper and his wife Mackenzie, Archer Bellas, and Veda Bellas and her cats Cinnamon and Dandelion.
