Charles I. Exley, 71, of Conneaut Lake passed away on July 30, 2018 at Wesbury, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on May 10, 1947 in Franklin, PA to William Exley and Ruth Ann Aiken. Charles was formerly married to Sylvia (Smock) Exley. Charles was a graduate of Rocky Grove High School. He was a retired union carpenter and skilled craftsman. Charles served in the Navy during Vietnam, of which he also completed many specialty courses and was very proud of his service. Charles was affiliated with the Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Linesville VFW, where he was a former Commander; as well as a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a scuba diver and a former member of the Crawford County Scuba Team. Charles enjoyed golfing, completing home improvement projects for his children, the outdoors and camping with his family. Charles was most recognized by his humor and his ability to transform someone's bad day into a good one. He was always smiling and cracking jokes while surrounded by others. Charles was a beloved father and Grandfather. Charles is survived by his daughter, Ashley McClure and her husband, Justin of Jamestown, PA and his son, Todd Exley and his fiancé, Bri Lang of Conneaut Lake, PA. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Dilynne June Exley and Cohen and Conner McClure. He was preceded in death by his parents.
