Charles E. (Charlie/Chuck) Miller, 74, of Saegertown, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at his home surrounded by family and close friends. He was born on July 15, 1944 in Meadville, PA the son of Elmer and Thelma (Shearer) Miller of Meadville, PA. Chuck married Cheryl A. Steiger on July 18, 1966. She survives. Chuck graduated from Meadville High School in 1962. After attending high school, he moved to California to work at his aunt and uncle’s peach and apple orchard for approximately one year. Upon returning home to Pennsylvania he enlisted in the United States Army Reserves. He then met and married Cheryl. He worked for a short time at Meadville Malleable before being hired at PPG Industries in October of 1968 where he continued to work until his retirement in 2004. Chuck enjoyed spending time with family and friends. For many years he entertained a great number of people at his annual 4th of July celebrations. He enjoyed many outdoor activities but particularly loved to hunt and fish with his two sons, grandchildren and his nephew, Fred Steiger and his family. He hunted every year until this fall season when he was unable to due to illness. Most of his lifelong friends were made and sustained engaging in these activities. He loved watching the Pittsburgh Penguins during the long winter months and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians during the summer. He was a past member of Elks BPOE 219, the Eagles, a social member of West Mead #2, and VFW Post 2006. Chuck is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cheryl; two sons, David Miller and his wife, Kelly of Meadville, PA and Mark Miller and his wife, Sheri of Saegertown, PA; four grandchildren and one step-grandson, Alissa Miller, Colton Miller, Clayton Miller, Austin Miller and Robbie Spence; one brother, Paul Miller of Hermitage, PA; as well as many nieces and nephews and one “grand-dog”, Tucker, who made his life very special over the last few months of his life. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents. The family suggests that donations can be made to the Yolanda G.
