Charles J. Prall Jr.

Charles " Charlie" J. Prall Jr., age 82, of Meadville passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family; after an extended illness. Charles was born March 2, 1932 in Meadville, the youngest of eight children, to the late Charles Prall, Sr, and Mable (Douglas) Prall. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Alberta A. (Peat) Prall, whom he married on May 26, 1956; He was formerly married to Patricia Anderson. After attending Meadville High School he was employed by the Keystone Ordinance, Greenville Steel Car, and retired in 1993 from ConRail Corporation after 34 years of service. He was a member of the VFW Post 2006, and a regular at McDonalds every morning for coffee and visiting with "The Guys" until his illness prevented it. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, often going with his sons or friends. He enjoyed his John Deere Tractor and working outside. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He could often be found with one of the kids on his lap, or a baby in his arms. He had a very special place in his heart for his two special needs grandchildren. In addition to his wife Alberta, he is survived by six children: Cheryl "Cherie" L. Graham of North Blenheim, N.Y., Charles "Joe" J. Prall III and his wife Cindy of Meadville, Daniel L. Prall and his wife Patricia "Pat" of Guys Mills, Kenneth D. Prall of Meadville, Julie M. Bihler and her husband Tom of Bemus Point, NY, and Michael A. Prall of Meadville. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren: Kevin, Brian (Susie) and Keith (Missy) Graham; Jeremy, Courtney, and Jacob Prall; Kelly (Jason) M. King, Kyle, Katie, and Kasey Prall; TJ and Bradley Bihler; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by two brothers: Gerald (in infancy) and Donald D. Prall; five sisters: Melba Ruby, Everyl Ketcham, Betty Ketcham, Dorothea "Dot" Bode, and JoAnn Youngblood. A son-in-law Barry D. Graham. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, December 30th from 6 PM to 9 PM and Wednesday, December 31st from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the funeral service at 11 AM at the Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home and Crematory, 614 Baldwin Street, Meadville, PA with Pastor Marshall Lillie of Hospice of Crawford County, officiating. Burial will take place in Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Township, PA following the service.
