Clair (Ed) Anthony, Jr., age 71, of Meadville, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday February 19, 2022 at Marquette Hospice House with his wife by his side. He was born on October 12, 1950 in Meadville, PA to the late Clair E. Anthony, Sr. and Martha (Stella) Miller. He married Rebecca Rowland on March 17, 2015.
Ed graduated from Meadville High School in 1969. He then joined the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Germany where he was able to travel Europe widely while he was there. Once Ed got back to Meadville he worked various jobs until he found his niche as a groundskeeper and maintenance man for apartment complexes. He retired as a groundskeeper from Greendale Cemetery.
He was a former member of FOE Eagles Club, the ICC and VFW Post 2006. Ed was a member of the Eagles bowling league and various softball leagues at Lincoln Ave. Complex. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was very proud of his trophy walleye that he caught from French Creek. He enjoyed his fishing trips to Canada and golfing in his Venango Valley golf league. Ed was a devoted Cleveland Indians and Browns fan.
In addition to his wife Becky, he is survived by one daughter, Mary Ellen Anthony Serra of Meadville, PA; his siblings, Memory Miller of Meadville, PA, Dale Schlosser and his wife, Terry of Conneaut Lake, PA, Jody Anthony Fetterhoff of Meadville, PA, Linda Peterson and her husband, Larry of Greenville, PA and Jane Butryn and her husband, Kevin Lippert of Cochranton, PA and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Debbie Shattuck; his stepmother, Dorothy K. Anthony; his uncle, Butch Kuhn and his great nephew, Matt Baker.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
