Claire Gordon

August 14, 1954 — April 16, 2021

Claire McKee Gordon was born on August 14, 1954 in Pittsburgh, PA and left this world for the next on April 16, 2021 in Meadville PA. She was preceded in passing by her parents, Dr. Claude W. McKee and Dorothy Auen McKee. She has three sisters, Claudia Naughton (Frank) of Tucson Az, Carole McKee ( Lawrence) of Santa Clara, CA and Chris DeBolt (George) of San Lorenzo NM. Her son Daniel Gordon (Maria) lives in Connecticut. She has two nieces, Tina Powers (Tucson) and Kate DeBolt (Brooklyn, NY) and two nephews, Mike Wiessberger (CA) and Frank Naughton Jr. (Tucson). Her ex-husband and still a friend, Ken Gordon lives in Hawaii.

She held a BA in Secondary Education and an MA in Health Education both from the University of Arizona in Tucson. During her career she taught high school in Tucson and then health education and CPR classes in Hawaii. She was very knowledgeable about health issues and enjoyed talking about those things with others who were interested.

During her life she enjoyed swimming, water skiing on Conneaut Lake, long walks with her pup of twelve years Bella, collecting knickknacks and cards, was a voracious reader and often shared her unique sense of humor with her family and friends. While in her apartment at Parkside Commons in Meadville, she took great interest in her neighbors, often bringing them little gifts and putting notes on doors to brighten their days. She liked to joke that she was one of the “younger” women living there. 😊

Her love of animals, especially dogs of all kinds, was evident in her large collection of dog knickknacks that she kept spotlessly clean. Of course, her favorite TV show was The Puppy Bowl!

She faced many difficulties in her life and was an amazingly strong, brave and resilient woman in spite of them. She was kind, curious and always ready to help someone who might be in need of a listening ear or helping hand.

While we grieve losing her on this earth, we know her spirit is out on the lake she loved, doing some fancy waterskiing! You will always be in our hearts and remembered with much love, dear Claire!

Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted in her name to the Meadville Humane Society and the American Red Cross.
