Clayton Ralph Mumau

Clayton Ralph Mumau, age 74, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 in Lakeland, Florida after an extended illness. He was born July 17, 1942 the son of the late Ralph Albert Mumau and Mary Davis Mumau Stearns. He was a Quality Control Inspector at General Electric in Erie, PA, where he retired after 39 years of service. He began his career as a machinist working on the development of locomotives, but spending the majority of his career in quality control; all at the Erie plant in Pennsylvania. He served as a board member at Mas Verde Park in Lakeland, Florida. He was a member of the Loyal Order the Moose Union City, Pennsylvania, Lodge # 882; Elks USA Cannonsburg Lodge #0846. He also was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church. His passion was building, and he enjoyed working with his hands. He was well-known among family and friends for his creative woodworking and mechanical abilities as well as his generous spirit to always step in to help out a friend, He enjoyed playing golf with his family and friends. He also enjoyed travelling and spending time with family and friends from Mas Verde Park in Lakeland, Florida and Holiday Camplands in Andover, Ohio Ralph is survived by his wife of 27 years, Carol Mumau, three daughters: Shawn Parks and her husband Michael of Denton, MD, Shannon Mentley and her husband Daniel of Erie, PA and Stacy Becker and her husband Bruce of Novelty,OH, two step-daughters: Veronica Fitch and her husband Todd of Blacksburg, VA and Jerri Burrows of Pittsburgh, PA, a sister: Delores Mumau Thompson and her husband Richard of Meadville, PA, three brothers: Edwin Lee Mumau and his wife Weena of San Antonio, FL, Clyde Eugene Stearns and his wife Mona, Harry LeRoy Stearns and his spouse John Fulmer and step-sister: Desssie M. Stearns Oster all of Meadville, PA; twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins, and dear friends. In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Mae Stearns Eddy and by two brother-in-laws and a niece and a nephew. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute, 12902 USF Magnolia Drive, Tampa, FL 33612 Tampa, Florida or to the American Cancer Society         A private graveside service will be held at the Venango Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
