Conrad Eckert Jr.

Conrad W. Eckert Jr., age 92, of Conneaut Lake, PA, formerly of Shaler, PA passed away Sunday, September 20, 2026, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Erie, PA with family by his side. Conrad was born October 14, 1933 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Conrad Sr. and Wanda (Szejk) Eckert. He was married to the love of his life, Barbara A. (Mechon) Eckert for 60 years. She preceded him in death on September 29, 2016.

Conrad was a graduate of Robinson High School. He served in the United States Army, Adjutant General’s Corp with active duty from 1956-1958. During that time, he played the drums in the Army Marching Band and even had the pleasure of playing for Queen Elizabeth when she visited the United States. He was a member of the AFL-CIO Communication Workers of America Local 13000. Conrad was a dedicated employee for AT&T Bell System beginning in the 1950’s and retiring early in the 1990’s from Bell Atlantic PA. He was a lifetime member of the Bauerstown Volunteer Fire Department 259 of Shaler Township, Allegheny County. He was of Christian faith and a member of St. Sebastian Church- Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish.

Conrad and “Babs” relished spending as much time as possible in their retirement with their daughter, Carol and their 2 grandsons. They travelled several times to Hawaii and twice thru the Panama Canal and many destinations in between. Their retirement life WAS their grandchildren. Spending months together in Florida & San Diego. He also loved cooking and spending time at his daughter’s home in Conneaut Lake, PA. He loved the lake life.

Conrad is survived by his two children, Carol Eckert Anderson of Conneaut Lake, PA and Florida and Conrad J. Eckert of Polish Hill, PA; two grandchildren, Austin (Jill) Anderson of Noblesville, IN and Douglas Anderson of Canmore, Alberta, Canada; five great-grandchildren, Emerson, Lennox, Leon, RJ, and Zion and two nieces and two nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Conrad was preceded in death by his stillborn son in 1959, Glenn; his sister, Lois Obringer and her husband, Raymond.

Family and Friends are invited to call on Friday, September 25,2026 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Tedesco-Dickson Funeral Home and Crematory, 130 N. 2nd Street Conneaut Lake, PA. Full military honors will be conducted at 7:00pm and a Celebration of Life will be held immediately following at CLVFD Station#3.

Conrad will be laid to rest at St. Augustine’s Cemetery, 250 Wible Run Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15209 on Monday September 28, 2026 at 12:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, family requests all donations be made to your local volunteer fire department.
