Dan O'Shurak

Dan O’Shurak, age 91, of Perry Highway, Meadville, passed away on June 6, 2019 at Rolling Fields after a long period of declining health.  He was born in Ellwood City, PA on September 4, 1927 to the late Frank and Olga O’Shurak.  He married Irma Lipps on October 9, 1952.  She preceded him on December 5, 2009.

Dan graduated from Lincoln High School in Ellwood City and then served in the United States Navy. After his military service, he attended the State Police Academy and then worked as a Pennsylvania State Trooper until his retirement.  After retirement, he worked for Cabot Gas and Oil.

He was a lifetime member of the Vernon Central Fire Hall and a member of the Taylor Hose Company.  Dan was an avid hunter and golfer.  He once got two hole-in-ones on the same hole in the same day! He had a lifetime total of seven hole-in-ones.  He also enjoyed playing pinochle.

Dan is survived by his two sons; Jim O’Shurak of Meadville and Dave O’Shurak and his wife, Maria of Meadville; four grandchildren; Ryan O’Shurak and his wife, Nikki, Danny O’Shurak and his wife, Ashley, Zane O’Shurak and his wife, Carrie, and Becca O’Shurak; and four great-grandchildren; Harper, Andi, Hunter and Logan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his beloved granddaughter, Rachel O’Shurak and two brothers; William and James O’Shurak.

Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home, 614 Baldwin St., Meadville, PA from 3-6 p.m. There will be no funeral service for the public.  A private service and burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
