Daniel Monico

November 1, 1961 — November 14, 2020

Daniel J. Monico, age 59, of Conneaut Lake, PA passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2020.  Danny was born in Meadville, PA, November 1, 1961, a son of the late Alexander and Hazel (SanFelice) Monico.  He was a 1983 graduate of Meadville Area Senior High School.  Always prayerful, Danny practiced his Catholic faith traditions and participated in Christian worship.  Danny had fun competing in sports at Special Olympics and received many awards.  He was active as a church greeter, volunteer at the Soup Kitchen, and helper at the Saegertown Library.  Danny had a wide circle of friends.  He enjoyed bowling, outings, church worship, art, music, and craft classes with his peers.  His birthday, Christmas, family celebrations, summer picnics, boat rides, Halloween costumes, Easter traditions, music and eating – especially his Mom’s recipes - were a constant source of enjoyment in Danny’s life.

Danny was loved by all who came to know him.  He was thoughtful and considerate.  Danny always said “thank you” for the support he received from others to meet his special needs.  We will remember his bright smile, the joy of his laughter, his gentle demeanor and most of all his love.  Danny will be deeply missed by sister Sandy (Bill) Eldridge of Conneaut Lake, his devoted family caregivers Joy (Tim) Vogel of Conneaut Lake; sister-in-law Leona Monico of Saegertown; nephews Marc Rinella of Las Vegas, NV; Michael (LeeAnn) Monico of Girard, PA; Steve (Jill) Monico, Tony (Jill) Rinella of Meadville; Matthew Monico of Fairbanks, Alaska; nieces Simone (Craig) Davic of Erie, PA; Monica Rinella of Meadville; Gina (Brian) Trace of Saegertown; Stephanie Rinella (fiancée, Marc Gregor) of Meadville; ten great nephews, six great nieces, one great-great niece and many cousins.  In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his sister Jeannie Rinella; brothers Frank and John Monico; sister-in-law Laura Monico; and brother-in-law Anthony Rinella.

Thank you to everyone who advocated for Danny, doted on him, and helped him to lead a full and meaningful life.  Danny’s family is grateful for the medical care provided during his lifetime by Drs. Sean and Ken Unice and staff.

Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, November 17th from 3-6 p.m. at Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home & Crematory, 614 Baldwin Street, Meadville, PA with a scripture service at 5:30 p.m.  CDC guidelines will be followed.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Agatha’s Roman Catholic Church, 353 Pine Street, Meadville, PA, Wednesday, November 18th at 11 a.m. with Fr. Jeff Lucas as celebrant.  Danny will be laid to rest with his parents in Greendale Cemetery.
