Darwin C. Williams, age 84 of Conneaut Lake, PA passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2014 at his residence. He was born August 5, 1929 in Geneva, PA, the son of the late Henry L. and Ruth Bailey Williams. He married Sylva "Sib" Dennis on April 9, 1949. She preceded him in death on September 27, 1997. Darwin graduated from Conneaut Lake High School in 1947. He retired from L.U. #47 Plumbers and Steamfitters in 1995 and was the owner of Dot Farm Storage. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. Darwin, known to many as Popeye, was a devoted family man and avid outdoorsman; a country gentleman who was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was a self-starter and instilled his hard work ethic in both of his children. Darwin's favorite times were those spent with family and friends; hunting, cutting firewood, maintaining his farm, golfing and socializing at Station 3. Darwin was a dedicated caretaker for his wife and both of his parents, and was surrounded by his loving family to the end. Darwin is survived by a daughter, Brenda L. Williams of Conneaut Lake, PA; a son, Douglas C. Williams and his wife Brenda, of Conneaut Lake, PA; two grandchildren, Jenna Williams and Justin Williams; one sister, Dolores Wilson of Hermitage, PA; two brothers, Richard "Dick" Williams and his wife Jan of Conneaut Lake, PA, Lary Williams and his wife Winnie of Meadville, PA; special nephew Clint Dennis who resided in their home as a child, and a special niece Helen Ross, who cared deeply for her aunt and uncle. He is further survived by many other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife, Darwin was preceded in death by an infant sister, Audrey Williams and an infant brother, Craig Williams. A Celebration of Life Tribute will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 4:00 PM at Darwin's home, 7870 Booth Road, Conneaut Lake, PA, 2.8 miles east of Conneaut Lake on Route 285. Casual attire is welcomed. The Celebration of Life will continue at 6:00 PM at Station 3, 11877 Conneaut Lake Road, where family and friends are warmly invited to share a meal and memories in honor of Darwin. The committal service will be private for the family at graveside with brother Lary Williams leading the service. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Conneaut Lake, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be mailed to the family residence at 7870 Booth Road, Conneaut Lake, PA 16316 or made at the Celebration of Life for Conneaut Lake Historical Society, Williams Cemetery or Lake View Cemetery.
