David English

March 18, 1953 — April 7, 2025

David J. English, age 72, resident of Wesbury, passed away peacefully on Monday April 7, 2025, with family by his side. He was born on March 18, 1953, in Williamsport, PA to the late Malcolm R. English and Janice E. (Harris) Myers.

Dave graduated from Montoursville High School in 1971. He then attended Penn State University earning his degree in Environmental Research Management in 1975. After graduation, he was employed in water quality at Valley Forge for 4 years. He moved to Meadville, PA and began working in the oil & gas industry for the Department of Environmental Protection. After a few years, he moved to Harrisburg, PA where he was Chief of the Division of Enforcement and Administration until his retirement. After retirement, he began working for Enterprise driving cars, which he loved.

Anyone who met David fell in love with him. He had the best smile, chuckle, and heart.

Dave was of Methodist faith. He was a member of the Central Pennsylvania Triumph Club and spent many years collecting and restoring antique cars. He was a member of the Bass Angler’s Club and a member of Phi Kappa Theta and remained active with the fraternity throughout his life. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing all over the world. He enjoyed anything related to guns and ammunition. He was a devoted Penn State football fan and attended many games as a season ticket holder. Dave was also an avid coin collector and enjoyed gardening. His favorite and most cherished role was being a PapPap.

Dave is survived by his son, James P. English and his wife, Michelle of Linesville, PA; his grandsons, Bryce and Brooks; his former spouse, Pam L. Lutz; his stepmother, Naomi English; his sister, Joyce E. Wolyniec; his niece, Prudy Plocido and her husband, Sam and their kids, Nathan and Samantha all of the Lancaster, PA area; his uncle, Gary (Susan) Harris and many cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, Malcolm R. English and Janice E. Myers, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Kenneth Myers and a brother-in-law, Frank.

A private memorial service for David will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, Inc. 912 Killian Hill Road S.W., Lilburn, GA 30047, or the National Rifle Association of America, 11250 Waples Mill Road, Fairfax, VA 22030.
