Deborah Zimmer

Deborah S. (Debbie) Merritt Zimmer, 51, of Venango, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 5, after a long battle with Lupus and struggles with Dialysis, at Meadville Medical Center.

Debbie was born on Thursday, April 16, 1970, in Meadville, the youngest daughter of the late Gerald W. and Adrienne J. Mehlo Merritt.

Debbie graduated in 1988 from Cambridge Springs High School and the Crawford County Vocational Technical School with a diploma in Art Design. In 2006 she was a member of the Medical Transcription/Coding class at Tri-State Business School, Erie. Most recently, she was employed with the Touch Stone Solutions in Meadville and at the Meadville Driver’s License Center. Debbie greatly loved her daughter Katlyn. She also loved her fur babies, Bootes, Bella, Mac, Petunia, Porky and cared for Ljay, Pugsley and Jessie. She was a Pittsburgh Steelers Fan, enjoyed watching Law and Order, Special Victims Unit and playing her app games on her phone.

Debbie is survived by her loving daughter, Katlyn M. Zimmer, and Katlyn’s father, Jeffrey Zimmer both of Erie, her sister: Cathy A. Smith of Venango, three brothers: David W. Merritt of Venango, Kevin G. Merritt and his wife Regina of Cochranton, Kenneth G. Merritt and his wife Joyce of Shiremanstown, PA, and several nieces and nephews and many cousins.

Family and friends are welcome to call at the Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home & Crematory, 614 Baldwin Street, Meadville, on Friday from 4 PM until time of the service at 6PM, with Deacon Edward Horneman, of The Epiphany of the Lord parish, officiating.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Meadville Medical Center, the Venango Volunteer Fire Department and Meadville Ambulance for the care given to her over the past few months. Per Debbie’s wishes, she generously gave the gift of life to others through CORE’s organ and tissue donation program.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home & Crematory.
