Diane Eileen Rhodes

March 3, 1953 — April 17, 2019

Diane Eileen (Agnew) Rhodes, 66, passed away on April 17, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Meadville, PA on March 3, 1953, daughter of the late John and Betty Agnew. Diane, or “Dee Dee” to her family, was the librarian of the Shontz Memorial Library in Conneaut Lake. She previously served as librarian at the Henretta Memorial Library in Harmonsburg. Diane was well known in the Conneaut Lake community through her work at the Library, where she also ran children’s story hour and the summer reading program. Diane was a long time member and board member of the Shady Avenue Association, and she loved to spend summer days at the beach and evenings watching sunsets. She enjoyed participating in a long running book club with her friends, and would often walk along the streets of the east side of Conneaut Lake with those same friends. Diane was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she seemed to have an unlimited supply of energy, time and patience to provide to her family. With her family, every conversation ended with an “I love you”, and every visit with a hug. Although she passed so unexpectedly, those close to her knew they were loved, and she knew that she was loved in return. She was selfless and gave of herself every day until she went to sleep knowing she had given all she had to her family and friends. She touched many people in her life, and we are all better for having known her.
Diane is survived by her husband, Raymond Rhodes of Conneaut Lake; her son David Rhodes and wife, Jennifer of Erie, PA; her daughter Brooke Roney and husband ,Tim of Westmoreland City, PA; her grandchildren, Maggie, Abby and Henry Rhodes and Willa Roney; her brother, John Agnew of Harmonsburg, PA; and her sisters, Deborah Rauscher of Conneautville, PA and Suzanne Scirpo of Penn Valley, California.
Family and friends are invited to share memories and condolences with the family at Dickson Funeral Home in Conneaut Lake on Monday, April 22 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A memorial service is being planned for a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to DICKSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 130 N. SECOND ST., CONNEAUT LAKE, PA 16316, ROCCO R. TEDESCO, SUPERVISOR. Please sign the online guestbook at hatheway-tedesco.com
