Donald E. Aubel, age 84, of Conneaut Lake, passed away on Saturday,December 27, 2014 at Rolling Fields, Conneautville. Don was born in Greenville, PA, February 4, 1930, the son of Lucille (Stafford)nd Warren Aubel. He graduated from Greenville High School and then Thiel College (class of 1956). At Thiel he was named to the "Who's Who of American Colleges". Don served in the United States Army at Camp Breckenridge for 2 years. He was employed by the Bell Telephone Company as an office manager, first in New Castle, and then in Pittsburgh. In 1984 Don retired from Bell Telephone and moved to Conneaut Lake. He married Nancy Wright on June 9, 1956; she survives. Survivors also include: a daughter Carol Aubel Ladner, and her husband Brian of Conneaut Lake; two sons: Paul Donald Aubel of Conneaut Lake and Craig Edward Aubel and his wife Karen of Philadelphia, PA; seven grandchildren: Chelsea Aubel, Kori Aubel, Jordan Aubel, Matthew Rodgers, Erin Rodgers, Jonathan Aubel, and Kyle Aubel; and a lifelong friend Hugh McCright of Greenville, PA. Preceding Donald in death, in addition to his parents, was a brother: Clair Aubel, and a sister Kathryn Dawes. Donald and Nancy are members of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Conneaut Lake. Don enjoyed fishing and boating on Conneaut Lake; and was a very "clever" card player. He was also a skilled gardener and raised plants from seedlings- especially marigolds. Don was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan. A gathering of Family and Friends will be held at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 240 N Third Street, Conneaut Lake, PA on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 from 1-3 PM. A memorial Service will follow at 3 PM with Pastor Dave Brumagin, of Trinity United Methodist Church officiating.
