Donald Lee Bissell, age 91 of The Caring Place, Franklin, PA and formerly of Juniper Village, Meadville, PA passed away on Friday, August 8, 2014 at The Caring Place, Franklin, PA Donald was born December 16, 1922 in Muskegon,Michigan the son of the late Morton and Saphrona McCoy Bissell. He married Jean E. Wallis in McKeesport, PA on August 10, 1946. She preceded him in death on May 12, 1999. He had been employed at Perfection Stone in Cleveland, Ohio, then at American Steel & Wire in Cleveland, Ohio and worked at the Erie Lackawanna Rail Road, which became ConRail: until becoming disabled in 1974. He had served in the 9th Air Force Bomber Squadron #572 during World War II. He was a member of the Harmonsburg United Methodist Church. He also belonged to the Brotherhood of Railroad Employees. He was a past member of the VFW in Linesville, PA, the Meadville Eagles Club, and the B.A.R.E. Lodge. He, along with his wife, sang in the Good Tyme Band of Linesville, at various fairs and functions. Donald is survived by a daughter, Donna Husick and her husband Jerry of The Villages, Florida, two grandchildren; Lisa Ann Smith and her husband, William of Meadville, PA and Michael Allen Harnett of Meadville, PA; seven great-grandsons. He is further survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, and his wife, Donald was preceded in death by a daughter, Violet Louise Bissell, three sisters, Lillian Bissell Chizak and Thelma Bissell English and Violet Bissell Trembath and a brother, Victor Bissell. Family and friends are welcome to call on Tuesday from 6 to 7 PM at the Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home & Crematory, 614 Baldwin Street, Meadville, PA The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 7:00 PM at the Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home.
