Donald Frank Fronce Sr.

Donald Frank Fronce Sr. of Meadville, PA passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Meadville Medical Center after a period of failing health. He was born April 12, 1940 in Meadville, PA the son of the late Henry and Doris Donihi Fronce. He graduated from St. Brigid School. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Donald was a Veteran of the Pennsylvania National Guard having enlisted on February 28, 1957 and was honorably discharged on April 14, 1959. He was a member of the 112th Infantry Regiment Association. Donald retired in l995 from the Park's Department of the City of Meadville. He was very proud of his work as the Zamboni Driver at the Meadville Recreation Complex and was a very proud supporter of the Meadville Hockey Team. Don was well known by Bulldog Hockey fans; team members and coaches as being an expert Zamboni driver. He would resurface the ice in 12 minutes (exactly), unless Coach Plunkett wanted it to take longer ! He was of the Catholic Faith having attended St. Brigid's Church. Donald is survived by three sons; Daniel Fronce of Meadville, PA , Gerald Fronce and his wife Cassie of Meadville, PA and Donald Fronce Jr and his wife Kimberly of Meadville, PA, a daughter; Rebecca Sterling and her husband Larry of Cochranton, PA., four grandchildren; Brianna Roberts, Elizabeth Grace Fronce, Zackary Fronce and Michael Allen. He is further survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by two brothers; Edward Lee Fronce and Lester Fronce. Family and friends are welcome to call on Saturday from 1 until 2 PM at the Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home & Crematory 614 Baldwin Street, Meadville, PA 16335 The memorial service will be held at 2 PM at the funeral home with Father Johnathan Schmolt of St. Brigid Church, officiating. Inurnment will be in the Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
