Donald Weber

March 22, 1929 — December 12, 2021

Donald Edward Weber, 92, of Meadville passed away on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2021 at Hospice House after an extended illness.  Don was born in Coatsworth, Ontario, Canada on March 22, 1929 to Daniel and Anna Musgrove Weber.

On October 24, 1953 he married Elizabeth (Betty) Merchbaker.  They enjoyed 60 years of marriage before her passing in 2013.

At the age of 16, Don and his father moved to Meadville.  He worked at Talon running the food cart and was then employed for Wonder Bread/Hostess Cake for 35 years, retiring in 1986 where he was affectionately known as the “Twinkie Pusher.”  Then he managed a mobile home park in Florida before taking up full-time traveling.

Don and Betty enjoyed exploring the U.S. and Canada.  They lived their dream of traveling as full-time RVers for many years visiting every state and most of the Canadian Provinces.  His favorite expression was “I’ve been everywhere.”  He also enjoyed visiting the casinos and doing crossword puzzles. In addition, he was an excellent pool player that was known to run the table.  Don was a lifetime member of the Andover, Ohio American Legion Post 226 plus a lifetime member of the Meadville Eagles Number 429.

Don served in the U.S. Army Infantry from 1951-53 where he was stationed in Germany during the Korean War.

He is survived by his children, Paulette (Terry) Wood of Chardon, OH, Karen Weber and Daniel (Robin) Weber of Linesville.  Plus 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews in Canada and the U.S.

In addition to his wife Betty, he was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and four sisters.

There will be no private viewing services.  Interment will be at St. Brigid’s Cemetery in Meadville.  The family wishes to express their appreciation to all of the staff at Hospice of Crawford County and Dr. Brown at Yolanda Barco Oncology Institute for their wonderful care of Don.  Memorials can be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 766 Liberty St., Meadville, Pa. 16335.
