Doris Mae Price

Doris Mae (Cooper) Price, age 87, of Meadville, PA passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Wesbury United Methodist Community. She was born February 11, 1929 in Greensboro, NC to the late Robert Cooper and Mattie Hadley Cooper. She was married to John Henry Price, Sr. on June 2, 1950. Doris received her B.A. Degree from Bob Jones University in 1951. She and John served 47 consecutive years in Christian ministry with The Southern Methodist Church. Twenty eight of those years were as missionaries under SIM International including Nigeria (20) and USA home office (8). For 19 years they were in pastoral ministries in SC and LA. In 1996 they retired to the SIM Retirement Village in Sebring, FL. In 2103 Doris’ illness required her to be placed in a nursing home in Sebring. Because their daughter, Lila Spencer, is a Volunteer at Wesbury, on May 15, 2014 they moved to Meadville, where John lives with their daughter, Lila, and her husband, Dr. Dean Spencer, and Doris was moved into Grace at Wesbury. Doris loved to sing and joined the choir, in all of the places they lived. She also was an avid reader and loved sewing, cutting hair and correspondence. Doris was a member of the Turbeville Southern Methodist Church in Turbeville, SC. Doris is survived by her husband of sixty-six years, John Henry Price, Sr. of Meadville, PA, three daughters: Jean Cail and her husband, Jim Cail, Jr. of Colorado Springs, CO, Lila Spencer and her husband, Dr. Dean Spencer of Meadville, PA, Alice Pifer and her husband, Joel Pifer of Chelsea, AL, and three sons: John Price, Jr. and his wife, Neema Karengi of Miami, FL, Donald Price and his wife, Debbie Price of Lexington, SC and Philip Price and his wife, Dawn Price of Branchville, SC; 20 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mamie Lee Mills of Elgin, SC. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Jean Cecil of Greensboro, NC. Memorials can be made to SIM USA, 14830 Choate Circle, P.O.
