Doris Thurber

December 2, 1940 — February 25, 2022

Doris “Sis” Thurber of Conneaut Lake, PA passed away Friday afternoon February 25, 2022 at the Crawford County Care Center in Saegertown, PA.   She was born in Geneva, PA on December 2, 1940, the daughter of the late Timothy & Francis (Voorhes) Williams. She married Merle Thurber on July 8, 1960.  He passed away July 18, 2016.

Sis attended Conneaut Lake and Jamestown Schools.  She worked at Jamesway for many years, Steadman Restaurant in Jamestown, Hetricks in Conneaut Lake, Rebeccas in Linesville and Lighthouse Diner in Conneaut Lake.  When Sis wasn’t working you could find her out mowing her yard or baking cookies for her grandkids. Sis was also an avid Pittsburgh Pirate fan and would never miss watching a game. She also loved her dog, Zeus.

She is survived by her sons, Thomas and his wife, Robin of Conneaut Lake and Todd of  Youngstown, OH; grandsons, Travis Thurber of Pittsburgh, Tyson and his wife, Jodi and their son,  PJ of Kingsville, OH, Mackenzie and his wife, Sheridan of TN, Chase and his girlfriend, Ashlee of Chilicothe, OH; her brother-in-law, Tom Thurber and his wife, Kay, brother-in-law, Si and his wife, Rosemarie, sister-in-law, Carol Williams(Mike); sister-in-law, Sandy(Red) William, sister-in-law, Janet(Bill) Williams, sister-in-law, Jane along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Thurber; her parents; 3 brothers, Richard, Michael and Dennis (Bill) Williams; 3 sisters, Polly Barr, Donna Bossard and Dorothea Williams and an infant sister.

In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest donations be made to Strayhaven Animal Shelter, 94 Donation Rd., Greenville, PA 16125.

A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at the Jamestown Firemans Club Social Club 12pm – 3pm .
