Dorothy Marie Cargo

Dorothy Marie Cargo, age 96, of Meadville, PA, died Sunday, September 6, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born March 16, 1919 in Linesville, PA the daughter of the late Clint and Alice (Jackson) Davis. Dorothy was a 1936 graduate of Meadville High School. On July 25, 1936, Dorothy married Harvey (Hoot) Cargo. She and her husband opened Cargo Dry Cleaners in 1939. After the death of her husband in 1974 she continued to operate the business until she retired in 1999, but still continued to keep active within the business by doing the bookwork, never giving up. Dorothy was of the Protestant faith and very much enjoyed taking care of her family. Along with Dorothy's parents and husband she is preceded in death by one son, Richard Cargo. Dorothy is survived by a daughter: Alice Stevens and her husband Chuck Stevens Sr. of Meadville, a son: Thomas Cargo, of Phoenix, AZ, four grandchildren; Bryan Cargo, Phoenix, AZ, Charles Stevens Jr. and his wife Beverly of Meadville, Patricia Haines and her husband Kenneth of Cochranton, Thomas Cargo Jr. of Phoenix, AZ. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
