Dorothy Jean Earley

Dorothy Jean Earley, age 95, of Meadville, PA passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at her residence. Dorothy was born June 11, 1921 in Meadville, PA the daughter of the late Elmer H Earley and Etta Faye Medberry Earley. She graduated from Meadville High School in l940.  Dorothy had worked for Talon Inc. and retired after 43 years of service.  She served in the Army Air Corp during World War II, transferring there from the WAAC after basic training. Dorothy was a member of the Body Firm where she worked out faithfully three times a week. She also walked two miles daily until her death.  Dorothy was very active in local politics, running for different offices. She served on the Vernon Township Water Authority when she was in her 80’s. She campaigned actively for politicians at all government levels and did not hesitate to cross the party lines to avoid compromising her principles. Dorothy is survived by her niece, Corine Hecker of Saegertown, PA and many other nieces and nephews and her very close friend Jackie Williams of Meadville. She is also survived by her beloved cat, Felix In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by three sisters: Gladys Marnen, Ruth Sweeney, and Doris Bohrer, and by one brother: Kenneth Earley.
