Dorothy Smith

Dorothy Margaret Smith, age 93, of Meadville, PA formerly Waterford, PA passed away on Wednesday November 2, 2022 at Crawford County Care Center surrounded by family.  She was born on October 1, 1929 in Erie, PA to the late George and Margaret (Stellmach) Ester.  She married Daniel Smith.  He preceded her in death in 1985.

Dorothy attended a one room schoolhouse-Waterford Central School.  She was a housewife and in her later years she worked at Vogt’s Restaurant in Waterford.  She was of Protestant faith.

Dorothy was a former member of the American Legion of Waterford.  She enjoyed crocheting, doing puzzles and reading true stories.

She is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline Fox (Ed) of Meadville, PA; ten  grandchildren, Tina Goodwin (Jack), Theresa Pietricone (Roger), Tammy Pawlukovich, Colleen Naples, Tracy Pawlukovich(Jesse), Carrie Gilles (Tom), Cosha Triola (Mike), Danny Fox (Peggy), Terri Conard (Roger) and Michelle Sherriff (Kevin); 26 great grandchildren; one sister, Alice Smith of Erie, PA and one brother, Edward Ester of WA and her longtime companion, George Emerson of Northeast, PA.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Kathleen Pawlukovich and her siblings, Elizabeth Johnson, Frank Ester, George Ester II and James Ester.

The family would like to thank Crawford County Care Center and Kindred/Gentiva Hospice for their kindness and care.

There will be no public services.  A private burial will take place at Mill Village Cemetery in Waterford, PA.
