David E. Anderson (86) of Meadville, died June 2, 2026, at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community.
Born in Pittsburgh, January 13, 1940, he was the son of William and Margaret Anderson, both deceased.
He retired in 2006 after more than 30 years as a teacher at Allegheny College. At his retirement he was a professor of Psychology and Neuroscience. During the 1990’s he also served as the Director of Educational Computing Services at the college. And he served two terms as the chairperson of the Department of Psychology. He enjoyed traveling all over the world with his wife, watching Jeopardy, and reading the New York Times daily. In the last few years , he appreciated his new friends and activities at Wesbury.
Dr. Anderson lived a life guided by humanistic values, reason, and a deep love for his family, believing in the inherent dignity of all people.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, a daughter, Erica Lynn Anderson of Pittsburgh, brother, Richard Anderson of Los Angeles, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother William Anderson, and sisters-in-law Joan and JoAnn Anderson.
A celebration of a life gathering will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be sent to Allegheny College.
