Duane Sturrock

Duane “Chopper” Sturrock, age 79, of Guys Mills passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2020.

He was born September 8, 1940 in Meadville, PA to the late Stanley and Mildred (Smith) Sturrock.

He married Marianne Newell on June 28, 1969.  She survives.

Duane attended Randolph High School and played football for the Randolph Rockets.  He worked for Penn Union in Edinboro for over 30 years.

Duane very proudly served in the United States Marine Corps as a Lance Corporal from 1958-1964.  During his time in the military, he served for two years in Naples, Italy as Embassy Security.

He was a member of the Saegertown American Legion Post #205.  He enjoyed fishing, farming, and spending time with his friends, neighbors and family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids.

Along with his wife of 50 years, Marianne, he is survived by one daughter, Tammy Phillips and her significant other, Neal Wallace of Fountain, CO and one son, Timothy Sturrock and his wife, Katie of Guys Mills, PA; six surviving grandchildren, Kayla Ward and her husband, Shawn, Brittany Phillips, Tristan Duane Sturrock and his wife, Rachel, Bradley Sturrock, Zachary Duane Phillips and his wife, Cheyenne and Cassidy Phillips; five great-grandchildren, Kelly Ward, Levi Ward, Gavin Duane Sturrock, Braelyn Sturrock and Kelsey Ward and one sister, Janelle Smith and her husband, Ron.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Trenton Sturrock and his brother, Vincent Sturrock.

Family and friends are invited to call Friday, February 7, 2020 from 4-6 p.m. at Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home, 614 Baldwin St., Meadville, PA 16335.  A service will be held at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Bradley Yost (a relative of the family) officiating.  Military honors will be provided by VFW Post# 2006.
