Edward L Merritt

Edward “Ed” L. Merritt, age 64, of Saegertown passed away suddenly at his residence May 12, 2019.  He was born to the late Morris L. and Helen S. Merritt in Meadville on May 26, 1954.  He married Barbara Gruber September 27, 1980.  She survives.

Ed graduated from Cambridge Springs High School.  He was employed at GTI in Saegertown until they closed down.  He then went on to be a supervisor of the Saeger Carbide building at Greenleaf Corporation; where he loved his job.  He was a life member of Venango VFW Post #169 and Sons of American Legion of Cambridge Springs.

Ed is survived by his wife of 38 years, Barb of Saegertown; two step-daughters, Shawn Nelson and her husband, Edward of Conneautville, PA and Rochelle Bell and her husband, Lonnie of Clearwater, FL and one step-son, Bart Beck and his wife, Jill of Edinboro,  PA; six grandchildren, Jennifer Bell of Atlantic, PA, Michael Wenner of Edgewater, FL, Kari Miller of Girard, PA, David Miller of Butler, PA, Nikol Miller and her friend, Chris Lock of Girard, PA, and Sydney Beck and her fiancé, Nicholas of Erie, PA; four great-grandchildren; Bryce, Audrianna, Jackson, and Nikolas; two sisters, Charlotte Wood and her husband, Robert of Blooming Valley, PA, and Nancy Powell and her husband, John of Meadville, PA; two brothers, Roy Merritt and his wife, Laura of Cambridge Springs, PA and Robert Merritt of Saegertown and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, JoAnne Bortner.
