Elaine Horner

Elaine C. Horner, age 79, of Meadville, PA, formerly Conneautville, PA, passed away on December 9, 2021, after an extended illness.  She was born on February 6, 1942, in Meadville, PA, to the late Joseph C. and Laurel I. (Smith) Johns.

Elaine graduated from Saegertown High School in 1960.  After high school, she worked briefly in retail before becoming a full time mother and homemaker.  She had a very successful career later in life as an insurance agent at which she won awards for achievement.  Most recently she was employed as a home health aide for Helpmates a job she truly excelled and won two employee of the year awards as she loved to help others and it showed in her work.

She held the very prestigious office of president of the Tequila Burning Mustache Club. She also held several board seats on community organizations in the Meadville and Crawford County area.

In her spare time, she enjoyed showing German Shepherds and was proud to have titled them in both the United States and Canada.  She loved attending her children’s and grandchildrens' sporting events and was an avid supporter of local sports teams.  She was highly involved in both her community and with her children’s and grandchildrens' schools. She was just known as "Mom" or "Grandma" to all her children’s and grandchildrens' friends.  She'll best be remembered by others for her hearty laugh and forgiving nature amongst other endearing things.

Elaine is survived by her three children, E. Martin Dasovich of Meadville, PA; April Horner of Lodgepole, NE; and Deann Boyer and her husband, Axle of Townville, PA; her grandchildren, Britt Castile, Mak Koehne, Makayla Koehne and Leighann Boyer all of Townville, PA; her brother, Dick Johns and her brother-in-law, Tim Frank of Port St. Lucie, FL and numerous friends and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her step father, Kenneth G. Peterson and an infant son, Joseph M. Dasovich.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday December 17, 2021 from 4-7 pm at Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home and Crematory, 614 Baldwin St., Meadville, PA 16335.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the late spring/early summer.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the ALS Association of Western PA, 416 Lincoln Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15209.
