Ella Shrock, age 90, of Atlantic, PA passed away at her residence on June 15, 2020. She was born on July 14, 1929 in Greenwood Township to the late Milo and Mattie Byler. She married Neal Shrock on January 5, 1951. He preceded her in death on December 30, 2014.
Ella was a devout Christian, she and her late husband, Neal together raised seven children on the same family farm that Neal’s parents raised him. Orderly-rowed, carefully-weeded vegetables and marigolds were the hallmark of her garden. Deeply-loved, gently-guided and spiritually-sound, her children grew into adulthood. Welcoming, clean, smelling of fresh-baked goodness marked one’s entry into her home.
Practicing what she preached, her influence extended to relatives, neighbors, friends and fellow travelers on their Earth journey. Her sense of humor, love of the Lord and unfailing wisdom now is a part of all that knew her.
Ella was a member of Fallowfield United Methodist Church.
She is survived by five daughters; Laura Moen and her husband, Don of Nashville, TN, Susan Phelps and her husband, Craig of Elk City, OK, Rachel Ransbarger and her husband, David of Albuquerque, NM, Ruth Workman of Bossier City, LA and Esther Harrison and her husband, John of Hartstown, PA; daughter-in-law, Susan Shrock of Conneaut Lake, PA and son-in-law, Kent Emley of Okeechobee, FL; 21 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
She has 6 sisters, Susan, MaryAnn, Alma Mae, MaryAnn, Laura and Esther and 7 brothers, Mahlon, Albert, Jacob, Eli, Urie, Harley and Dan.
Ella was preceded in death by her husband; her daughter, Mary Ellen Emley and her son, John Shrock and her grandson, Jeremy Phelps.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. A private burial will take place at Porter’s Corners Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Fallowfield United Methodist Church, 3993 Leach Rd., Atlantic, PA 16111.
