Ernest "Fred" Bauer Jr.

July 29, 1949 — July 27, 2024

Fred (Ernest F. Jr.) Bauer, age 74, of Meadville, PA passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday July 27, 2024. He was born on July 29, 1949 in Lucinda, PA to the late Ernest F. Sr. and Doris (Cook) Bauer. He married Julie MacBeth on September 2, 1978 in Clarion, PA. She survives.

Fred graduated from St. Joseph’s School in Lucinda, PA in 1967. He then served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. After he was discharged from the military, he stayed in Europe and attended a tool and die school in Germany and went on to complete an apprenticeship and then became a journeyman tool and die maker.  He worked at Zeller Plastik in Germany and he also served in the Reservist Association of Deutsche Bundeswehr  in Germany.  Once he returned to the United States, he worked at the glass plant in Marienville, PA and Whitebrook Tool and Die in Brookville, PA.  After moving to the Meadville area, he worked for Viking Tool and after his retirement, he worked part-time for K&S Tool and Die/Imperial Newbould. He was on the board at the American Legion Post #111 and he was a lifetime member of the Clarion VFW Post #2145.  In his younger years, he enjoyed shooting skeet, playing golf, hunting, fishing and camping.  He loved his dogs, especially his Yorkie, Sara.

In addition to his wife of 45 years, he is survived by his sister, Roxanne Hunt of Belmont, NC, his brothers, Rick Bauer of MD and Mark Bauer and his wife, Tina of Clarion, PA; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill Nofer of Farmdale, OH, Kathy Wagner of Columbus, IN, Robert J. MacBeth III of Meadville, PA, Sue Burney and her husband, Robert of Cooksburg, PA, Jeffrey MacBeth and his wife, Billie Jo of St. Augustine, FL, John M. MacBeth of Cooksburg, PA and Cora Blakey and her husband, Simon of Atlanta, GA  and many, many nieces and nephews and grands and great-grands.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father-in-law, Ethel (Kline) and Robert J. MacBeth II; his sister-in-law, Jeanne Bortner and his brother-in-law, Scott Wagner.

As per Fred’s wishes, there will be no services at this time.
