Eugene T. Szulkowski, age 82 of Meadville, PA went to be with the Lord after a brief illness on Monday, December 29, 2014 at Meadville Medical Center. He was born January 25, 1932 in Pittsburgh, PA the son of the late Joseph J. and Pearl Komorowski Szulkowski. He attended Arsenal Middle School of Lawrenceville. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and the United States Marine Corp having served during the Korean Conflict. He worked at J & L Steel for many years then went to Witco. Having sustained an injury, he retired. He then worked numerous jobs. In the mid 1980's he moved to Meadville because of his love for the outdoors and fishing. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of the Americas Church in Conneaut Lake, PA He loved fishing and enjoyed having coffee with his friends at Mama Bears and Kings Restaurant. Eugene made a friend everywhere he went. He is survived by his companion of 21 years, Joan Smock of Meadville, PA, a sister; Patricia Demitras of Pittsburgh, PA, two sons; Michael Szulkowski Sr. and his wife Betty of Butler, PA, David Szulkowshi and his wife Jeannine of Pittsburgh, PA, four daughters; Stephanie Bricker and her husband Robert of Pittsburgh, PA, Michelle Crane and her husband Keith of Missouri, Debra Szulkowski of Missouri, and Hope Mackey and her husband Richard of Pittsburgh, PA, 43 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Anthony Szulkowski of Missouri and Michael Szulkowski of Pittsburgh, PA, a brother-in-law Tony Demitras of Gibsonia, and two grandchildren Joseph J. Szulkowski of Gibsonia and Jeanie M. Szulkowski of Rochester, New York. Family and friends may call on Thursday, January 1, from 4 to 7 PM at the Dickson Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 N Second Street, Conneaut Lake, PA. A Vigil Prayer Service will be held on Thursday at 3:45 PM at the funeral home with the Altar Rosary Society in attendance. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 A on Friday, January 2, 2014 at Our Lady Queen of the Americas Catholic Church, 155 S. Ninth Street, Conneaut Lake, with Father Jeffrey Lucas as Celebrant. Burial will be in the Our Lady Queen of the Americas Catholic Cemetery, with Full Military Honors provided by VFW Post 2006.
