Florence Joanne Midgley Boyd

Florence Joanne Midgley Boyd- beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, mother in-law, & friend- died Thursday morning, Dec. 19th 2013 at Wesbury United Methodist Nursing Center, at age 86. Florence was born July 15th 1927 in Heidelburg, PA. to George and Lorena Midgley. She graduated from Bridgeville High School in 1945 and received her registered nurse diploma three years later. On Oct 12th, 1948 Florence married the love of her life, Rev. Gene W. Boyd. They spent 56 years together until Gene passed away in 2002. During her life, Florence worked 55 years in the nursing profession offering help & comfort to many at City Hospital & Hillside Home, both in Meadville. Other Interests included singing in the Fifth Street Church choir, reading, tending to her flowers, and spending time with family & friends. Florence is survived by her five children; Carolyn Holmes of Washington, PA; Dr. Cathy Owens of Hermitage, PA; Cynthia (and Richard) Leavell of Corvallis, OR; David Boyd of Washington, PA; Douglas ( and Judy) Boyd of Sterling, VA; plus 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren & 1 great-great grandchild. Mrs. Boyd had a life full of love & happiness and will be missed dearly! Family and friends may call on Sunday from 4 to 6 PM and again on Monday from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Dickson Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 N Second Street, Conneaut Lake, PA The funeral service will be held on Monday at 1 PM at the Dickson funeral Home and Crematory, with the Rev. Mark Frailey, of the Fifth Street Presbyterian Church, Conneaut Lake, officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery.
