Gene R. Griffith

Gene R. Griffith, age 85, of Cambridge Springs Township, passed away on Sunday, March 2nd, 2014 at the Crawford County Care Center. Gene was born November 9th, 1928, in Woodcock; the son of the late Frank Thomas Griffith and Mae Humes (Griffith). He married Mabella Maxwell on August 31st, 1950. Mabella preceded her husband in death on August 28, 1998. Gene graduated from Cambridge Springs High School: Class of 1947. He was a lifelong farmer and worked for the Erie Lackawanna Railroad (Conrail) for 33 years. Gene was a member of: the Gravel Run Presbyterian Church, Covenant Lodge 473 of the Free and Accepted Masons, Cambridge Springs Lodge, where he was a 50 year member, the Valley of Coudersport (32nd), and The Meadville Elks Lodge # 219. He is survived by a daughter Janinne Styborski and her husband Richard, of Fort Wayne, Indiana; a son Raymond Griffith, of Pickerington, near Columbus, Ohio; and three grandchildren: Eric Styborski , Tim Styborski and his wife, Amber, and Courtney Griffith and two great-grandchildren: Katelyn Styborski and Owen Styborski. Family and friends may call on Wednesday, March 5th, 2014 from 4PM to 7 PM at the Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home and Crematory, 614 Baldwin Street Meadville, PA 16335. An additional hour of visitation will be held on Thursday, March 6th, 2014, at the Funeral Home, from 10 until 11 Am, followed by the funeral Service 11 AM at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donald H. Gordon, pastor of the Gravel Run Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will take place in Upper Cambridge Springs Cemetery.
