George Rutherford

George H. Rutherford, age 91, of Conneaut Lake, passed away October 9, 2018.  George was born July 18, 1927 to the late Rev. George H. Rutherford and Hazel Horne Rutherford in Dillonvale, Ohio.  George graduated from Conneaut Lake High School in 1945 and graduated from the College of Wooster in 1951 with a degree in education. He was in the United States Navy. George spent most of his life in Conneaut Lake and taught music and social studies in the Townville/Maplewood Schools. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Lloyd Johnson.  George is survived by his sister, Edith Ann Johnson of Rancho Viejo, Texas.  He is also survived by Marco Longoria, who was like a son to him, and his wife, Krista as well as their children, McKenna and Matthew of Conneaut Lake. He was a member of the Conneaut Lake Presbyterian Church, the Conneaut Lake Kiwanis Club, the Conneaut Lake Area Historical Society and the John Brown Historical Society.  He was also affiliated with the Harmonsburg Presbyterian Church. It is requested that no flowers be given, nor any monetary contributions be made.  Mr. Rutherford can be honored by one becoming active in a charitable organization of the donor’s choice or by doing something kind for another in memory of George. A special thank you to George’s caregivers; Sue Yurik, Linda Karnes and Kelly Steiner. Friends and family may call on Monday, October 15, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the Conneaut Lake Presbyterian Church.  A service of Praise to God will follow at the church at 11:00 am.  Burial will take place at the Lakeview Cemetery, Conneaut Lake, PA. Arrangements have been entrusted to the DICKSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 130 N. SECOND STREET, CONNEAUT LAKE, PA.
