Gladys grew up in Erie, graduating from Academy High School in 1942, after which time she worked as a secretary for a food broker in Erie for a number of years. During that period, she married Peter Banach on September 11, 1948; he preceded her in death in December 1995. Gladys found much pleasure in giving many children in the Millcreek area piano lessons from her home. She and her husband were self-employed, having established a family business, Kamp 'n Home Supply in Erie. Gladys was associated with the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Asbury Road, having an active part in sharing Bible truths with others. This brought her joy and contentment. Gladys also enjoyed music, broadway shows, and spent a good deal of time traveling throughout the country with her husband. She was always ready and willing to take a road trip anywhere.
