Gregory Harvey

June 16, 1965 — March 22, 2021

Gregory Alan Harvey passed away on March 22, 2021 at Allegheny General Hospital of Pittsburgh, PA due to complications of COVID.  Gregory was born on June 26, 1965 the son of the late Stephen C. Harvey and Jean M. McCooey Harvey.

Gregory graduated from Meadville Senior High School in 1984.  He joined the United States Marines from 1985-1989.  He made Staff Sergeant and High Honors for Rifle Marksmanship.  He then lived with his brother in California doing mechanic work.  He and his brother came back to Pennsylvania and went to school at Riverside School of Aeronautics.  He then worked at Meadville Forging for 24 years, moving up the ladder to running the die shop in Saegertown.  He was a well-liked person at his work.

Gregory was a very loving and caring son and brother.  He loved to take his mom on many trips.  He also loved to antique.  He was a fan of small engines, tractors, fishing and hunting.  He was a member of VFW Post 2006 and Vernon Central Fire Department.

Gregory is survived by his mother, Jean Harvey of Meadville, PA; one sister, Linda M. Harvey Watt and her husband, Donald of Meadville, PA; two brothers, Stephen M. Harvey and his wife, Lora of Meadville, PA and Paul E. Harvey of Meadville, PA; his significant other, Rose Smith of Meadville, PA; two stepsons, Shawn Smith and his wife, Melissa of Meadville, PA and Dustin Smith and his wife, Mariah of Meadville, PA; grandchildren, Bentley James Smith, Marianna Nichole Smith, Izabella Grace Smith and Carter Avery Smith, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Stephen C. Harvey; his paternal grandparents, John McCooey (Lillian), Beeda Gerard McCooey Dearborn (Herbert); maternal grandparents, Charles and Virginia (Roche) Harvey; brother, Gary Lee Harvey and niece, Samantha Swavey.

Friends and family are invited to call on Friday, March 26, 2021 at New Beginnings Church of God, 13226 Leslie Rd., Meadville, PA from 2-4 p.m. Service will be held at 4 p.m.

All CDC guidelines will be followed and mask wearing will be strictly enforced.
