Harold attended high school in Conneautville. He married Eva Ruth Sproul on October 26, 1936; she survives. He retired in 1980 from Sears in retail sales; he was known as "Hal" by all who knew him. He was appreciated as being fair and honest in all his dealings. He was a Jevovah's Witness. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren who were all very fond of him.
