Helen E. "Susie" Friend, age 64 of Geneva, Pa, peacefully passed away on Monday, June 15, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family and friends. She was born February 12, 1951 in Meadville, PA, a daughter of the late Jack and Marie B. Slater Piatt. She graduated in 1970 from Conneaut Lake High School. She had worked as a nurse's aide for about 10 years at Meadville City Hospital. She then was employed as a sales clerk for Burlington Coat Factory of Pittsburgh. She had also worked in the Custodial Department at C & J Industries in Meadville, PA. Helen was a very active member of the Geneva Methodist Church where she was involved with the Bible School and was a Sunday school teacher, served as the Education Chair, a member of the choir, the worship committee and served as a church trustee. She was active for 14 years performing in the Living Christmas Tree choir, and 12 years leading a monthly ministry at Juniper Village. She enjoyed walking and reading and the special time she had with her family and friends. Helen was a member of the Greenwood Fire and Rescue Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by two grandchildren: John Friend and James Friend both of Pittsburgh, PA, a sister: Darlene Reiser and her husband Allan of Conneaut Lake, PA, five brothers: Chuck Sherretts and his wife Sis of Houston, Texas, Jack Piatt and his wife Joyce of Hartstown, PA, Henry Piatt and his wife Nancy of Saegertown, PA, Terry Piatt and his wife Georgia of Conneaut Lake, PA and Tim Piatt of Conneautville, PA She is further survived by many nieces and nephews and great-nephews and one great- niece. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by a nephew; John "Jed" Piatt. A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 2 PM at the Geneva Methodist Church, 15439 State Highway 285, Geneva, PA with Pastor Alice M McClymonds and Pastor Christine Rogan of the church, officiating. Memorials can be made to the Geneva Methodist Church, 15439 State Highway 285 Geneva, PA 16316 or to the Greenwood Fire Department.
