Henry L. Collins Jr.

April 28, 1934 — August 8, 2015

Henry Lee (Hank) Collins Jr. age 81 of Saegertown, PA, went to be with Jesus at his home on Saturday, August 8, 2015 surrounded by loving friends and family following an extended illness. He was born April 28, 1934, the eldest son of Henry Lee Collins Sr. and Sarah (Chenault) Collins in Cleveland, Ohio and was a longtime resident of LeRoy Township, OH until he moved to Saegertown, PA Words are not adequate to express the enormity of his life although we shall attempt to do so. Henry was a hard-working, loving, generous and protective man to not only those he loved but unselfishly gave of himself to anyone in need. Throughout his life he was admired and loved by those he touched. From his late teens until his mid-50s, he worked for D.R. Keeney (Uncle Bob) as a heavy equipment operator. In 1985 he became a partner with his brother, Ray Collins, for J. R. Collins Trucking Inc. He loved both jobs and drove truck until his health prevented him from driving any longer in 2010. Henry was active in community events all of his life and enjoyed playing softball for local teams for many years. Additionally, he collected and restored antique tractors especially ones from John Deere, and was also an avid fan of steam engines and railroads, and enjoyed working with his model train sets. He enjoyed the outdoors, and was a keen hunter in his younger years, although later in life he would enjoy watching birds and wildlife around his home in Saegertown for hours at a time with his wife, Donna. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Florence Andreano. He is survived by the love of his life, Donna Judith Collins and his stepson, Charles M. Mook; daughters Colleen (Paul) Bachna, Sandi (David) Ortiz of Painesville, OH; son Robert (Connie) Collins of Thompson, OH; his brother, Ray (Linda) Collins of Painesville, OH and sister Susie (Willy) Myers of Chardon, OH; mother-in-law, Jeanne Wilson; sister-in-law Debbie (Donnie) Mattern of Saegertown, PA; brother-in-law Donald (Dawn) Frazel of Beverly Hills, FL; an aunt Judith Mikols of Marstons Mills, MA; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. Henry enjoyed many special times with friends and neighbors and felt that he was blessed by their friendship and company. He felt especially blessed by his adoptive granddaughters who shared their lives and times with him: Cassandra Consla, Brittany Vogt and Jessica Bustillos. A Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Southern Care Hospice, 1245 Park Ave, Meadville, PA 16335 or to the Hamlin Chapel UMC 16352 State Hwy 198.
