Henry Leymarie

January 18, 1931 — March 29, 2022

Henry (Hank) Leymarie, age 91, of Conneaut Lake, PA. passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on March 29 th , 2022.   Hank was born in Ellwood City, PA on January 18 th , 1931 to Baptiste and Marie (Arristier) Leymarie.

Hank graduated from Lincoln H.S. in Ellwood City, PA. in 1949 while developing a love for baseball, and being an avid outdoorsman.  He soon met the love of his life Rose Marie Bender and celebrated 70 years of marriage on March 15, 2022.  Henry was called to duty for his country during the Korean War and he served honorably as a Medic which became the basis of his career serving the community of Ellwood City as a Firefighter and later becoming the Assistant Chief before retiring in 1990.   His love for family and community was ever present as he and Rose raised 4 beautiful children, instilling in them the deep-rooted values he lived every day.

In his Community, Henry was very active with the Jaycee’s and annual Soap Box Derby event.  His love to hunt and fish and teach water sports to his children was always at the forefront of his nurturing spirit.  Hank was a huge sports fan, and was a true Pittsburgh fanatic, following the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins.  Hank was also a dog lover, and the feeling was mutual, he never met a dog he didn’t love and that didn’t love him right back.

After retiring, Hank and Rose spent their summers in Conneaut Lake, PA and wintered in Naples, FL.  Hank was always the passionate golfer, remained active through his love of the sport and continued to work at the Naples Lakes Country Club during his retirement.  He really enjoyed working with co-workers at Naples Lakes and considered them family.

He earned two hole-in-one’s with the last coming on the 4 th of July 1996.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Rose Marie Leymarie (Bender); his Sons, Gary and Marsha Leymarie of Bonita Springs, FL; Randy and Brenda Leymarie of Conneaut Lake, PA; his daughters, Debi and Brian Ashley of Naples, FL; and Shari Berendt of Conneaut Lake, PA.   Six Grandchildren; Arristia Leymarie and Seranda and Dylan Cizan; Eric and MaryAnn Redder; Bryan and Ashley Redder, Kara Redder and Baylee Berendt; 4 Great Grandchildren; Madelynn and Jackson Redder; Henry and Elena Redder.
